Well, as you all know (I think), I work at LUSH!
Which means I get a nice little employee discount on what I think are some of the best products on the face of this earth (which is why I work there - duh!)
This week, I decided to try Hair Doctor.
It's mostly just bentonite clay with lots of essential oils, henna, and herbs.
It wasn't part of my regular regimen, but I had been eyeing this guy for a while now and decided to give it a try in lieu of shampoo.
Ingredients: water, irish moss powder, fullers earth, cetearyl alcohol, perfume, irish moss decoction, EVCO, jojoba oil, almond oil, peppermint oil, rosemary absolute, chamomile blue oil, soya lecithin, glycerin, yeast, red henna, lanolin, cetrimonium bromide, propylene glycol, glyceryl stearate, peg-100 stearate, eugenol, limonene, linalool
Label: If your dry scalp needs sorting out then make an appointment with the Hair Doctor. Plaster your scalp and hair, massage well and leave the stimulating jojoba and peppermint oils and nourishing fullers earth to do their job for about 20 minutes before rinsing it all out.
Price: $12.95
I originally planned to use the mask on my scalp only, and went through about 1/3 of the pot. But since it is preservative-free and must be used within three weeks, I decided to use it all through my hair as well and ended up using the entire pot.
Let me tell you - this stuff feels AHMAZING on your scalp. It was like...
O
M
G
The tingling sensation is ridiculous!
It's like brain freeze on crack.
I ended up letting it sit for about 30 minutes or so before rinsing. I didn't want to leave it in past the 20 minute recommendation, but I got caught up in The Glee Project.
When I finally did wash it out... OMG. It was like heaven!
This stuff made my scalp feel amazingly clean, my hair was SO soft, and my curls were super defined!
It was like a henna gloss/protein treatment/amla all in one jar!
And I know what you're thinking...
You work there. You have to say it's good.
Uh no...
There are definitely products at LUSH that I HATE, and the truth is that lying wouldn't actually help me unless you all come to my exact store to buy it.
So, no. This is not an advertisement for my company.
This product is genuinely amazing.
So, basically... I am definitely including this in my regimen from now on.
It's pretty steep (even with the discount) but it is SO worth it. I'll be using this instead of the monthly shampoo, protein conditioner, and cholesterol DC.
I know I could make it myself, but I'm not in the mood to buy all of the individual ingredients or try to recreate the correct proportions. The product is perfect as is.
My scalp felt extremely clean and my hair felt strong and soft.
What more can you ask for?
My Rating: 5/5

Hey been looking at LUSH website and don't see the product up for purchase online, is it available online? I moved out of NYC and live far from a Lush but would love to try this product. Please lemme know! Thx
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, this and the Fresh Face Masks are preservative-free and must be refrigerated, so they are not offered online. You must buy them in-store. However, they do last out of the fridge for 24 hours, so if you go pick one up, you'll have enough time to bring it back even if you don't go home right away.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry! :(
Thanks for answering! I get it, sucks but good to know!
ReplyDeleteHey Sis. I like this but it costs a lil too much for me. I alternate with the Shea Moisture Purification Mask and the Terresentials Left Coast Lemon. Both are like Mud clay masks that cleanses my hair, purifies it, and makes my hair soft. With the left coast lemon I dilute it with water so it lasts much longer. Hope this helps.
