The Petite Primalist: Kitchen Diary 3.30

I had curried goat cooking away all night in the crockpot and decided to wake up and throw together some coconut-curry cabbage to go with....

... but I couldn't wait.
Dove right into the goat.

Currently enjoying with a glass of red and East of Eden while finishing up.

Inspiration: SCAD 2013 Student Showcase

Isn't this dress made from spray-painted newspaper super cute?

I thought I'd show you all some of my favorite pieces from the Savannah College of Art and Design trip we took with the kiddos two weeks ago.

This photo on the right is rightly titled Alice in Wonderland.

ALL of the below pieces are drawings or paintings from HIGH SCHOOL students!
If I had this talent, you couldn't tell me anything.

Week-at-a-Glance: Regimen Revamp & Other College-y Things

For the past few weeks, I have been getting an insane amount of horribly itchy welts all over my body from things I have either put on my body or my hair.
I haven't quite narrowed everything down but it seems like raw honey, shea butter, coconut oil, and avocado butter are included in the list of culprits.
But these are all natural!

I've finally figured out that I MUST use Dove Sensitive Skin soap (my shower gel and everything else I used to wash my hands and/or body during this past week's college visits - see below - broke me out) and I cannot use Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Lotion either because of the shea butter (I'm assuming). I wish I had a pic of what my back looked like after using that lotion. I could have been an extra on Roots.

I haven't figured out yet what that means in terms of hair products, but I do know my occasional shampoo will now probably be the Dove soap (I used it the other day and it was cool - not as drying as regular shampoo and no welts!). I also haven't seen any welts as a result of Tresemme Naturals conditioner or the Giovanni pomade, so those will definitely be staying. I'm sort of afraid to try anything else! My face is itching just typing all of this!
When I figure things out, I will post something somewhere... *sigh*
There's always something...

Don't Call It A Comeback! (or HOTD: Mini Twists)

They're baaaaaack!

These twists took me about 4 hours (probably because I haven't done these in sooooo long).

Swimming with Natural Hair: The Regimen (Updated)

I have officially gone back to an old love.

I am a water child in that water gives me a sense of normalcy and a strength that is grounded yet flexible, which is all-too-important for us air signs.
In any case, as fundamental as swimming has become to my personal fitness in terms of body and mind, overexposure to chlorine wreaks havoc on EVERYTHING - my hair included.

I've done quite a bit of research all over the web and in-person to see what other ladies are doing, but since I swim 5 days/week, I have been playing around with what works for me with the realization that I have to go a bit more hardcore than some others with the fragile nature of my hair.
I have a goal to donate 12" of hair that I want to meet by December 2015, so I can't let chlorine damage hold me back.

Products and regimen below!
